The beginning of school never gets old.
The beginning of school never gets old. Students are excited, nervous, tired, lost, found, older, and ready for that next adventure. Now, a month in, they are in the groove. The Seniors are fully embracing their last year, making plans and memories that will last a lifetime. The Freshmen are learning it is not that scary and they have a rightful place in the Northside family.
It is a family at Northside. I felt it from the first day I came on campus last year. Immediately I thought – I am home. And my hope is that every single student that walks through our doors feels that same way. Our staff and teachers are excited to be here, ready to work, and care about every student as if they were their own.
The leadership team also grew this year – adding Sergio Davila as Assistant Principal and myself as Executive Director. Along with Principal Suzanne Curran, and Operations Director, Racquel Brown, the team feels very complete.
The returning teachers are enthusiastic, which adds to the energy brought by the new teachers we have on staff. Longtime members of our family are there too, Ms. Sandy in the front office, Mr. Rock in Security. Every member of our staff is part of the student’s success and they know. They live it.
We came back to a wonderful award – Bronze level from the national high school ranking through US News & World Report. Pretty cool. We’ll be looking at even more ways to reach even greater heights – engaging parents in a Parent Association, providing education for them; with a new website and communications for families and the world; and using data to drive continuous improvement in learning. Everyone is on board and excited to grow. At Northside, we prep for life. Get ready everyone. Northside is in the house.
