Ms. Emily Moskowitz

Ms. Emily Moskowitz

Emily Moskowitz is an investment professional with over 10 years of experience who is an independent sponsor looking at private equity deals with several capital partners.

Previously, she was Interim Director & Head of Corporate Development at Zynga where she spent nearly five years developing investing / M&A expertise as well as strategy and industry expertise in mobile, consumer internet, new media, video games (social and real-money) and related technologies.

Emily joined the Northside Charter High Schoolboard of trustees in 2017.

Prior to business school, Emily was a Senior Analyst at Merrill Lynch providing M&A and capital markets advice to clients in the IT Services, BPO, communications equipment, electronic component and industrial spaces.

Emily has an AB in Economics-Mathematics from Barnard College of Columbia University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mr. David Li

Mr. David Li

David Li is a corporate restructuring attorney at a prominent New York law firm.  During law school, he spent time working at each of the U.S. Department of Education and the North Carolina State Board of Education.
Before entering the legal profession, David taught high school math at an alternative public high school in Massachusetts for three years–the first two of which were through Teach For America.  David holds a BS from UNC Chapel Hill and a JD from Harvard Law School.
Ms. Deangeor Chin

Ms. Deangeor Chin

Deangeor Chin is an attorney practicing corporate law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. She received her J.D.  from Columbia University, School of Law in New York City and her B.A. from Brown University, where she majored in both Economics and Education. While at Brown, Deangeor spent much of her free time tutoring and mentoring Providence youth. She went on to work as an analyst for Goldman Sachs & Co. in their Credit Risk Management & Advisory division before attending law school. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Deangeor is an active member of her church family and a devoted horticulturist of her Brooklyn windowsill greenery.

Mr. Rizwan Alladin

Mr. Rizwan Alladin

Rizwan Alladin is the Managing Partner of Genius Zone LLC, a blended learning practice he founded, focused on introducing experiential learning methods for K-12 school leadership development programs.  Prior to his current role, Rizwan served as a Senior Director and Head of the Project Management Office for BTS USA, a strategy execution corporation creating fun, powerful learning experiences to Fortune 1000 companies.  He has also worked for Motorola as a program manager and electrical engineer, launching a wide variety of data capture and portable mobile devices for industrial, retail, and logistics applications.

Rizwan has worked extensively in the non-profit space, having served as a board trustee for Humanity First USA, a humanitarian organization with a strong focus on human development and disaster response.

Rizwan graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration from the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Rizwan lives on Long Island with his wife, Mehtab, and their three children.

Danielle has a B.A. in International Business and Management from Gannon University.  She comes with a wealth of business experience over the years in both the corporate and non-profit sectors.  In her early career, she started in Operations and Management which led to managing 24 facilities and under 100 employees.  Most recently she works as a Human Resources professional at a non-profit organization.

Mr. Willie Scott

Mr. Willie Scott

Willie Scott, DD, grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Clara Barton High School.  He has a Bachelor’s of Religious Education and Doctorate of Divinity from Saint Augustine Bible Institute.  He has served as an Assistant to the Brooklyn Borough President.  He is the former District Manager of Community  Board 17.  Dr. Scott, currently, serves as the Vice President of Public Affairs, for the Well Life Network.

Mr. Matthew Brian

Mr. Matthew Brian

Matthew Brian is the founder and managing director of Residual Development Group and brings over 20 years’ experience in the field of real estate development.

 

Residual Development Group LLC is an emerging MBE (MBE Certified),

Brooklyn-based development company owned by Matthew Brian. Residual focuses on the new construction of affordable, mixed-income and mixed-use projects throughout the five boroughs of New York City as well as joint venturing with other developers.

 

Prior to forming Residual, Matthew was Executive Vice President and Head of Development at Omni New York, where he was responsible for overseeing numerous projects and managing all members of the Omni development team.

 

While at Omni, Matthew was involved in a $120 million portfolio acquisition, multiple acquisition/loan closings of rehab projects, and new construction projects totaling 1,400 units. Prior to his tenure at Omni, Matthew was a Vice President at The Richman Group Development Corporation, where he was responsible for underwriting, structuring and closing construction and permanent financing for affordable and market rate rental residential developments throughout the United States. From 2006 to 2008, Matthew worked at the New York City Housing Development Corporation. Matthew has a Master in Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California, a Masters in Urban Planning from the University of California at Los Angeles, and a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Economics from UCLA.

Kaley Childs Karaffa is Vice President Client Services and Business Development for the Center for Board Excellence (“CBE”). In her current role, Ms. Karaffa focuses her practice in corporate governance and advises organizations and their boards and executives on governance matters. Prior to joining CBE, served as General Counsel at Clarolux LLC. Before moving to North Carolina, Ms. Karaffa practiced law in New York City with a focus on real estate, banking law, and litigation. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Karaffa served as program director of Jefferson County Teen Court, an alternative juvenile sentencing program.

 

Ms. Karaffa regularly volunteers her time with various philanthropic organizations and served as a Guardian ad Litem in Guilford County from 2013-2015. Ms. Karaffa has been on the Board of Trustees of the Northside Charter High School since January 2012 and is currently the Chair of the Board. Ms. Karaffa is a founding board member and president of YP Civitan of Greensboro, which is a young professionals networking and service organization focusing its efforts on organizations benefitting youth with disabilities. Ms. Karaffa is the Co-Chair of the CLE Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association Corporate Counsel Section.

 

Ms. Karaffa is licensed to practice law in the State of New York, and received a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board, Phi Alpha Delta, and the Corporate and Commercial Law Society. Ms. Karaffa received a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in Political Science from Samford University, where she was a Beeson Exceptional Scholar, a contestant in Miss Alabama, and a member of the Student Government Association, President’s Leadership Collegium, and Alpha Delta Pi sorority, among other organizations.
