Northside is looking for an Assistant Principal!

Essential Job Functions:

The Assistant Principal, under the direction of the Principal, implements and enforces school board policies, administrative rules and regulations. In the absence of the Principal, the Assistant Principal shall assume the duties and responsibilities of the Principal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for data and assessment:
    • Selection of appropriate assessment tools in line with best practice;
    • Scheduling assessments across disciplines and ensuring their fidelity to standards;
    • Curating resulting data and presenting findings to the Administration which then would be shared with the Board; and
    • Coaching teachers to use the aggregate data in their instructional practice through the Department Coordinators.
  • Work with Principal to plan and implement relevant Professional Development
  • Work with and assist faculty in the development of effective classroom discipline and organization
  • Maintain an effective and safe school environment
  • Conduct informal and formal teacher observations
  • Assist in completion of mid-year and end of the year evaluations
  • Review Weekly Snapshots and other lesson planning documentation
  • Assist in the selection and mentoring of staff
  • National Honor Society liaison
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Holds current NYS School Building Leader Certification or obtainable within 6 months
  • Experience with student data and assessment
  • Masters degree in Education, Administration/Management, or other relevant area
  • NYSED Fingerprint Clearance
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, including experience using them in a professional capacity
  • 5+ years teaching experience with effective classroom, preferably in an urban or charter school setting
